just wanted to share my own thoughts on what natlan's story could entail: most regions have had the transferring of power as one of the bigger themes liyue: zhongli giving his power up inazuma: ei inheriting being an archon from makoto sumeru: greater lord rukkhadevata passing down her power to her reincarnation fontaine: focalors returning her power to neuvillette so it makes me wonder if natlan will also have some sort of exchanging of powers with its archon, perhaps in the form of stealing (maybe the current pyro archon stole the gnosis from the previous) or perhaps since dragons are definitely going to be important in natlan, maybe there will be some instance of trying to use saurians to create another authority or something IDK i don't really have any basis for those crack theories but i do definitely think the transferring of power will continue to be a theme throughout the archon quests

24:08 OK so...I read that Murata could've actually be meant to be Mu-Natlan because of how you pronounce/read the Chinese characters. In the manga, the name is spelled out 穆納塔 (munata) in Chinese which shares the last 2 characters (Hanzi) with the actual nation of Natlan, 纳塔 (Nata). In contrast Himeko's surname in CN and JP are spelled out as 无量塔 (wuliangta) and 無量塔 (murata) respectively. The counter argument for this theory is that in the Genshin manga, the JP and KR translations both spell out Murata, ムラタ in JP and 무라타 for KR. Specifically for JP they used the katakana writing system which almost exclusively is used to denote foreign words. These are what I gathered from the r/Genshin_Lore sub reddit, og source post titles are: - We may be wrong about Natlan and the Pyro Archon (there's kind of a minor spoi|er here abt the "Mu" part of the name relating to HI3 lore, but they don't go too deep into it) - Going a bit deeper into the Murata-Natlanian translation

While I'm watching the video, I'm making some notes: 1. It seems that in the JP and CN manga there's no mention of Murata, only naming her like a god from the West (I do not speak JP or CN, so I'm only commenting on what I've read in some posts). The Spanish translation seems to follow what's on ENG, calling the people "Muratán". There's a reddit post talking about this, and it says that although Hoyo lets some translations slip, they do not think this is an arbitrary decision (otherwise they would have changed it). And unlike other Archons, the word Murata doesn't seem to have a special meaning in the cultures they are taking inspiration from (at least in Latin America, where I am from). So basically this stills a big "we do not know." 2. People often say that Diluc is a relative of Venessa, and I don't want to deny it either, but let's remember that Diluc's ancestor from the Ragnvindr clan fought in the revolution against Decarabian 2600+ years ago, and many years later Venessa founded the Knights of Favonius so any clan couldn't have more power than others. The manga also states that although they still shared traditions regarding their fighting spirit, Venessa's tribe has been away from their homeland for many generations, hence her name being more European-like and why she did not know anything about Natlan. 3. We've seen an Archon fake his death, three Archons who had to take the succession after the former Archons were gone, and we are now witnesses of how Focalors "ended" herself without a successor. In Raiden and Nahida's case, we don't know how the succession process went (sometimes I think, if Nahida and Rukkhadevata were both avatars of Irminsul, isn't Irminsul the one that owns the authority?) And Focalors said that she was "chosen" by Egeria. I wonder if it's time to witness a succession by ourselves, and maybe the Archon wants "the one who stands victorious" to do the job, if you get what I mean. Just a thought. 4. Here in Latin America, there's a great feeling of love and appreciation for Dragon Ball (although I do not share it, I understand its cultural impact) and many people were deeply sad when Toriyama has passed away. I would like to see if they take this shonen dinamic of "beating the stronger rival in an epic battle, and then the strongest after that" or at least make some kind of reference to DB in some dialogues. I also expect a lot of memes, we are proud of our memes.

I think the person mentioned under the chapter name for Natlan in Travail is most likely going to be Xbalanque. Because he is described in Neuvillete's drip marketing to be "The one imbued with primal fire". Primal fire sounds like an important substance and given Neuvillete's role in Fontaine's AQ, giving Xbalanque of all people a quote about him might be foreshadowing (Although Capitano is also a possibility if he has a connection to Natlan) Also knowing what we do about Capitano he will probably challenge a Natlan elite or the Archon (or the Traveler) to a duel of honor to get whatever he is seeking (Gnosis or otherwise). If that happens it will be unfathomably hype

making a note of the names of the Saurians - Tepetlisauri - tepetl is Nahuatl for mountain Iktomisauri - iktomi is Lakota for spider, but I'm not sure if that fits in anywhere in the elementaverse aside from those (I'll be using Central Nahuatl where I can, but keep in mind these won't be the final ones given they could use other indigenous languages, especially since they're separated by tribes. I just want to get some ideas rolling, if even for myself); *ehecatl* means air/wind ("ehe"tte nan da yo!? XD) // *quiyahuatl* (KEE-yah-watl) means storm *tlapetlānilli/tlapetlantli* mean lightning (severe doubts they'll use this) // *ikpitikayotl* means electricity (also doubt they'll use this, but a lil' less) *cuahuitl* (KWA-witl) means tree // *cuauhtlah* (KWOW-tla) means forest (I doubt this one will be used) *atl/atzintli* (ATS-in-tlee) means water // *ilhuicaatl* (ILL-wee-kahtl) means ocean *tletl* means fire (I doubt this one will be used) // *tletepētl* (TLE-teh-pehtl) means volcano *cepayahuitl* (KEH-pa-ya-witl) means snow // *cetl* means ice

now that i rewatched the 4.7 natlan teaser, the colors of the saurians (green, yellow, blue) were foreshadowing the 3 new characters for 5.0 edit: also, there's only six tribes that they showed in the trailer, i think each tribe represents an element if we take the 5.0 characters as an example (geo, hydro and dendro), the missing elements were cryo, electro, pyro and anemo, and in the Imaginarium theater, the restrictions are pyro, electro and anemo characters, so i would assume there's no cryo tribe. could be a coincidence though.

really excited about natlan, i think every tribe is gonna have it's own "pet" or something like that, since the pets in 4.7 teaser were "playable" and the characters had pets in 4.8 teaser, it's likely that we will have those pets as the traveller and each one of the natlan characters will have one pet too

52:40 honestly on this vein, I wonder if Natlan’s topography is the least changed of all the geographic areas of Teyvat. Aside from the naturally occurring effects of being a volcanic region, I wonder if Natlan’s land is “preserved” in ways that other regions in Teyvat aren’t, and if it has some kind of exemption from the 1 Celestia Nail per Region pattern we’ve been seeing. If the Mare Jivari is a natural phenomenon that isn’t caused by a nail, but represents a piece of the continent succumbing to the raw power of the Abyss, that would be fascinating. Because something about it feels different compared to Enkanomiya or the Chasm, for example, which contain old civilization ruins but also aren’t entirely beyond the bounds of comprehension like the Mare Jivari is described. Wind still reaches the Chasm and Enka, but the absence of wind? That feels like something entirely different to me. It almost feels like a “preview” of what all of Teyvat could become by endgame.

Come to think of it, Bennett's default skin is a lil bit similar to that of Natlan characters being revealed just subtle. No one in Monstadt has this kind of attire. Also he's an orphan and i dont know his orgins lol but maybe he's from Natlan. OR (maybe) due to his bad lucks, he's the Natlan's gnosis 😅🤣

Love the video by the way. I actually really wanted a breakdown of all the lore from natlan before we got there. Also, fun Fact about the talking stick lore.The tribe names of the people who came to Tenoch are African names. Particularly from Kenya. They mostly focus on one of the tribes known as the kikuyu tribe, which is a very prominent tribe in the country. The names wanjiru, muhuru and Kayeke are examples by the way(you pronounced wanjiru correctly. But kayeke is pronounced ka-ye-ke. ) Kongamato is a swahili name, particularly from the costal region of Kenya. It translates to 'gathering'. Mahamba is also an African name, particularly bantu (bantu is a major language group with tribes from East, Central, West and South Africa. These tribes share similar language patterns). There really us alot I can say about the relations of this lore to African culture. But that's far from the point. Basically what I'm trying to get at is that maybe one of the tribes may draw alot of inspiration from east Africa. And the culture may be of great significance in the natlan lore I'm kenyan by the way, and I was soo excited when I saw these names in the natlan lore😂 I literally can't wait to see how they adapt it. Natlan may just turn out to be my favourite region, though fontaine is hard to beat tbh

Hey Arnold, I don't know whether or not you will read this but I want to say; thank you! I am studying theater and writing, and because of this I always had interests in mythology, literature and history. One of my final trials to my last exam was to write a multiple page long essay of your favorite inspiration (games, books movies etc.) and my choice was "Genshin Impact and its many, many, many cultural, mythological and historical references hidden under the surface." (this was a mouthful) In this essay I went through all regions (up to Fontain for obvious reasons) characters etc and dissected them as much as possible. Now I am trying to do a video essay where I go through every region and try to explain every small references to real world, because there are a lot of things a lot of things people just don't talk about. And one of my main inspiration to this was you. When it comes to the lore of the game, you are the most knowledgeable I have seen. Given the fact, that I always looking for the lore and masked meanings in everything, your channel was the greatest inspiration I can ever hoped for. So again, thank you!

no ash doesn't mean just death. He has used this expression before words matter it's not just a way to say death, it means something else. If they died they would just be rebirthed by Irminsul ash must mean permanent death. Ash and curses no idea what that means. Perhaps when you're constellation get's destroyed in the firmament like Childes did, it would in that case mean that he is going to transform into something else. Mondstadt I think it is a part of Khaen'ah I kind of think Venti betrayed Celestia and is hiding in the form of a bard. It's significant that Ventis story quest ends with him sitting on a statue that has the words engraved in it "the gateway of Celestia" By never recognizing himself he is protecting Mondstadt from whatever punishment Celestia is going to give him.
